Engagement equals active partnerships. The first step to engaging parents is communication. Make the first conversation positive and personal. Assure the parents you want their child to succeed in your class. Allow parents to become active collaborators in your classroom. Hold parent workshops with open discussions, and show examples of materials. Allow parents to make decisions on class content, and delegate activities for both students and parents to complete.
