Exploring Castles and Palaces in Germany

Heidelberg CastleOne of the best parts of teaching English abroad is being able to explore historic buildings and learn about the history of the country. I lived in Germany for 4 years and taught English. When I first arrived, I bought a castle book and made it a point to visit several castles each month. I was able to visit several, but one of my favorites was the Heidelberg Castle, which is home of the Tun, the world’s largest wine barrel. I was able to taste eis wine, which is sweet and delicious. You can enjoy the beautiful surroundings by taking a boat tour on the Rhine river.
