Toddlers to teens enjoy learning about pirates. For teachers who teach CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning), lessons about pirates help students learn science, math, geography, history, and culture. Language learners can also study cartography and create maps where they label different areas. Below are several pirate-themed resources for teaching your language learners. You can use grocery brown bags.<\/li>\n<li>Students can add invisible ink to their maps. Find <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Make-an-Invisible-Ink-Message\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">invisible ink recipes here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>They can draw a map and use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/scene\/655799721171877888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Thinglink to add pop-up text clues like this example<\/a>. They have a pirate prompt for students to add their own captions and pictures.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toondoo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Toondoo<\/a> is a free web tool to create comics and books and has pirate characters and backgrounds.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.makebeliefscomix.com\/Comix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Makebeliefs Comix<\/a> has a few pirate-themed objects and characters. Create a comic online or use the free iPad app.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Students can create their own pirate stories. Try <a href=\"https:\/\/www.storyjumper.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Story Jumper<\/a>, a free web tool for creating embeddable books. Students can choose from different pirate-themed backgrounds and characters.<\/li>\n<li>Students can talk like a pirate with this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talklikeapirate.com\/translator.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">English to Pirate translator<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Get students to build their own pirate ships with paper, styrofoam, and other materials and test what makes their ships better.
