This takes place at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayasites.com\/equinox.html\">Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1<\/a> at\u00a0the famous El Castillo pyramid. Although, I have not yet seen the snake, I have hiked the pyramid and explored the ruins which include an area where the Mayans played ancient sports. \u00a0Visiting this ancient city has been one of the highlights of my explorations and watching the snake climb the pyramid during the Equinox is truly a bucket list adventure. It is amazing to realize that the pyramid was built thousands of years ago and still had this incredible design to bring out the snake during the Equinox. The Mayans who built the structure observed and celebrated the vernal equinox, when night and day are of almost equal length all over the world.
