Teaching English in Malaysia, Jobs & Certification

Malaysia is a rapidly developing country that attracts many teachers for its efficiency, exotic adventures, and large range of job opportunities. The government has begun a public campaign to get English into the classrooms, and this has created a large demand for English teachers in cities like Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, and George Town. Starting with the private schools will garner the best wages, and peak hiring times are in January and February.

Malaysia is located in Southeast Asia and shares land borders with Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei. The country is divided into two regions- Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia. The country is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural which has long played a role in the politics of the country. Malaysia has its origins in the Malay Kingdoms, and went through a turbulent past. In 1965 it became the Malaysia we know today, and is considered one of the strongest growing economies in Asia with a consistent growth rate of 6.5% for almost 50 years. Traditionally, the economy has been fueled by natural resources, but it has begun to invest in other sectors such as science, tourism, commerce, and medical tourism.
