TESOL Worldwide - Teach English in Turkey
People often say that Turkey is the place where the West and the Middle East meet. The ancient history is never forgotten in this developing country that is eager to be part of the current global world. Traveling around and visiting the ancient ruins, mountain climbing, and visiting the blue seas are what many teachers do on their break. The ideal time to look for a teaching job in Turkey is August or September.
Turkey is at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, and is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Azerbaijani, Iraq and Syria. Turkey has been inhabited since that Paleolithic age with many different players claiming control. In 1923 the Republic of Turkey was born when the Turkish war of Independence came to an end. The country's official language is Turkish and the vast majority of the population is Muslim. Turkey joined the European Union in 2005, and continues to be a regional power with a growing economy.
