Walt Disney, the global entertainment giant, now has twenty-one English language learning centers operating in China, of which eleven are located in Shanghai, and six in Beijing.
Disney's involvement in ESL, or teaching English as a second language,
dates back to the late 1970s when "The World of English" program was
introduced to Japanese students. Disney is also one of the largest
publishers of chldren's books in the world. By 1996, Disney Publishing had
sold over 25 million "home English learning programs", in over twenty
countries.
According to disneyenglish.com, there are now eleven Disney English
learning centers located around the metropolis of Shanghai. Walt Disney
Company & Shanghai Shendi Group, have also broke ground on building the
Shanghai Disney Resort.
