Gaining and keeping your students attention is an important factor in making reading fun for young learners. Dressing up while reading, creating puppets, having a sing-a-long, or inviting a guest speaker makes reading exciting for young learners. Changing the reading environment, using a felt board, and bringing in props also keep learners interested. Have parents suggest books, use a wiki in the classroom, and have students read aloud.
