Introduction to TESOL
Introduces trainees to the basics of classroom management, and helps them develop an understanding of the teacher’s role in the EFL classroom. Teaching Process

Lesson Planing

Teaching Writing
Focuses on the different approaches to teaching EFL writing and how these approaches can be utilized in the classroom. Trainees learn the components involved in a writing lesson including pre-writing activities. In addition, trainees will learn about the differences between written and spoken discourse. Teaching Speaking
Focuses on methods used in constructing effective speaking lessons. Trainees also learn and apply oral error correction techniques including the use of gestures in error correction and learn how to effectively correct students without hindering their spoken fluency development.

Going beyond the need to recognize areas of difference between students in the classroom, the teacher must also determine ways to be sure that the learners’ unique aspects are preserved without jeopardizing equitable treatment of all students.

Teaching Listening
Focuses on real-life listening and how elements of real-life listening can be utilized in the classroom. It also focuses on various listening materials and activities. Trainees completing this module will develop a sound understanding of how to target listening comprehension effectively in the classroom. In addition, trainees will explore listening for perception and learn how they can target and help students overcome difficulties they have perceiving English sounds.
Practicing & Testing Process

Syllabus/Materials/Content
Introduces the basic characteristics of a syllabus, and shows different types of syllabus that are used in foreign language teaching. Trainees will have a clear understanding of how to prepare and use the syllabus.

Teaching Reading
Concentrates on reading skills and the elements in an effective reading lesson. It focuses on techniques to facilitate reading comprehension and specific techniques for reading skill development. Trainees also learn how to create effective pre-reading activities and different methods for developing student’s reading comprehension. There is a general focus in the reading workshop on authentic texts covering how to choose applicable authentic texts and how to adapt them for different levels.

Giving Feedback/Classroom Interaction
Focuses on how teachers activate students, or students activate themselves, and how to give feedback. Trainees will also learn how to use the lessons to promote learning and learner morale.

English Verb Tenses
Focuses on how English tenses are classified. Students will be taught to explain and analyze verb tenses in both communicative and written manners.

Testing Process
Focuses on how ESL/EFL assessments are being conducted. Students will learn how to design languages test, set testing formats and outline the importance of key evaluation factors.
