Every month we feature our favorite web tools and apps for English language learners and teachers. This month we are highlighting the free Shine On, Megabyte iOS app. Megabyte is a virtual pet featuring content from Oxford University Press. This app was made for young children, ages 2 to 6 years-old. This is one of the most engaging and creative ways for teaching young learners how to speak English. The child downloads the app for free then receives a free virtual puppy who follows the child’s voice commands. Other cool features, include:
- Feed, care and play with Megabyte
- Unique voice recognition technology to help children improve their pronunciation
- More than 120 words to learn
- Dozens of activities and mini games with fun animations
- Reports on the child’s progress
- Safe, ad-free environment
- Some in app purchases
