It is a peaceful and quiet alternative to the busier cities, and located in Eastern China just 90 minutes away from Shanghai. Often referred to as the Venice of China because over 40% of the city is covered in water, the ambiance of Suzhou makes this a naturally beautiful place to explore. Suzhou is also home to the silk industry, and the cost of living is relatively low creating plenty of decent paying teaching jobs available now.
