Peru’s Our Lady of the Candle Festival

Peru’s Our Lady of the Candle Festival is a Saintly Celebration

Virgin of Candelaria, or Our Lady of the Candle, is one of Peru’s biggest festivals in February. Located in Puno, Peru, the festival started in 1960, and celebrates the patron saint of Puno, Mary. On the streets festival goers see colorful processions carrying relics from the church. One special performance not to miss is the La Diablada (Dance of the Devils), based on the legend about miners who were rescued by Mary. Learn more about Our Lady of the Candle.
