During March is the Equinox and during March 19 to 22nd you can travel to Mexico to watch a snake slither up a famous ancient pyramid. This takes place at Chichén Itzá at the famous El Castillo pyramid. Although, I have not yet seen the snake, I have hiked the pyramid and explored the ruins which include an area where the Mayans played ancient sports. Visiting this ancient city has been one of the highlights of my explorations and watching the snake climb the pyramid during the Equinox is truly a bucket list adventure. It is amazing to realize that the pyramid was built thousands of years ago and still had this incredible design to bring out the snake during the Equinox. The Mayans who built the structure observed and celebrated the vernal equinox, when night and day are of almost equal length all over the world. Discover more about El Castillo and the event here.
