In South America, the winter solstice takes place in June and one of the largest celebrations is Inti Raymi, the Incan Festival of the Sun in Cuzco, Peru. The festival celebrates the Incan New Year and includes a parade with colorfully dressed Peruvians in traditional costumes dancing to traditional music.
