The American TESOL Institute’s English Listening and Speaking Exam (ELSE) is a 30-minute, online assessment conducted by a live human evaluator, designed to evaluate a non-native speaker's ability to comprehend and communicate in realistic, everyday contexts. The exam begins with five engaging conversational questions, followed by an immersive roleplay scenario. Upon completion, participants receive comprehensive, personalized feedback—including actionable steps for improvement—intended to strengthen fluency, refine pronunciation, and boost confidence in real-world English communication. To prepare for the assessment, candidates can practice the exam format ahead of time with our AI English Teacher.
