French Guiana, an overseas department and region of France, is located on the northeastern coast of South America and is dominated by the Amazon rainforest. Its landscape is characterized by a low-lying coastal plain where most of the population resides, with the terrain gradually rising southward into the Tumuc-Humac Mountains. Numerous rivers, including the Maroni and Oyapock, dissect the land, providing crucial waterways and contributing to the region's lush biodiversity. The climate is tropical, hot, and humid, with heavy rainfall throughout the year, particularly from December to July.
